The Beginning...

Established in 2018, Mi Latinidad was created by a group of Latinx students frustrated with the lack of representation within the theater industry and education system. Together they took matters into their own hands and hosted a cabaret showcasing their work. What started out as a one-night event centered around Latinx artists soon turned into a collective of young people celebrating their culture and learning from each other. And so Mi Latinidad was born. Mi Latinidad: A Celebration of Latinx Culture raised $1,200 for the I Love Venezuela Foundation that year.

Reinvention...

The pandemic hit us with new lessons as we faced the challenge of steering away from live performance. We wanted to continue to have this human connection that we cherished so deeply. No longer limited to live events, Mi Latinidad is now a multimedia organization. We now open up our organization to produce and support all multidisciplinary art. This newfound freedom inspired our Sobre Mesa podcast, and we're excited to promote conversation amongst artists in Chicago and beyond.

The Future...

Mi Latinidad aims to be a voice for Latinx artists and youth on all platforms. As we gear towards our 501c3 status, we plan to expand by collaborating with educational programs that promote the arts in marginalized communities around the city of Chicago. We are dedicated to creating a rich community of creators. The possibilities are endless as we continue to produce original live performances, social media content, films, and events for Latinx businesses and entrepreneurs. Our journey is simply beginning...
